All you need to know...
... I must admit I stumbled accidently into the wine business. Having graduated in Textile Engineering in Germany, I was working as Production manager for some acclaimed fashion companies like Tom Tailor.
Maybe there were already some wine genes hidden having grown up in one of the best wine regions in Germany "the Mosel“ and the early contact with wine. In the end, the move to Santa Barbara in California with its famous Wine Country, persuaded me to take on the big change.
The extensive wine selection at the Wine Cask Store in Santa Barbara where I worked as Sales Associate as well as getting to known local wineries/vintners enabled me to do enough practical study to pass the WSET Advanced Certificate with merit. Soon the WSET Diploma followed which I have finished in January 2010. I am now an Associate member of the Institute of Wines & Spirits (AIWS) as well.
Having achieved the official qualifications it is time to set up my own wine business. Here I want to give "Underground“ or "Concept“ wines a platform from lesser known wine regions to speak out for themselves. While living in different countries I often found that everywhere the mainstream wines are definitly too dominating and make it hard for the consumer to find new exciting sources. I want to change that.
In 2010, I participated as Associated Judge in the tasting panel for IWSC.
Also, I have hosted a range of wine tasting classes in Germany and organised travels to
different wine regions like California, Alsace, Saar, Palatine or the Ahr valley.
